About Us

Built for grassroots coaches

PlayTactiq started from a simple frustration: grassroots coaches put in hours every week preparing sessions, but the resources available to them are either too basic, locked behind expensive courses, or buried in YouTube. We set out to fix that — with structured, age-appropriate coaching content delivered every single week.

Every Monday, subscribers receive a complete coaching session designed for grassroots coaches working with real players in real conditions — limited pitch time, mixed abilities, and no professional support staff. Each session includes a full practice plan, animated drill diagrams, printable formation sheets, and targeted coaching points for the age group.

What's included every week

  • Session plan — structured warm-up, 2–3 main practices, cool-down with coaching objectives
  • Animated drill diagrams — step-by-step movement animations on a scaled pitch, no guesswork
  • Printable formation sheet — take it to the pitch, no phone required
  • Coaching notes — what to look for, how to progress the drill, common mistakes

Sports and age groups

We currently publish weekly sessions for grassroots football coaches working with players from U6 through to U16, and for cricket coaches running All Stars (U5–U8), Dynamos (U8–U11), and junior teams up to U17. All content is age-differentiated — a U7 session looks nothing like a U14 session, because it shouldn't.

What we believe

  • Great coaching shouldn't require a UEFA licence or a big budget
  • Grassroots sport shapes players for life — it deserves the same quality of support as professional academies
  • Coaches learn best from concrete examples, not theory — so we show, not just tell
  • Age-appropriate practice is the single biggest lever a coach has at grassroots level

Who we are

PlayTactiq is built and run by Marcus Hunter, a developer and FA-qualified football coach based in the United Kingdom. Every session is created and reviewed against age-group development guidelines before publication.

Safeguarding commitment

We take our responsibility to junior sport seriously. PlayTactiq content is designed for qualified coaches working within their club's safeguarding and welfare frameworks. We encourage all coaches working with players under 18 to hold a current DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check and relevant safeguarding awareness training as required by their County FA or national governing body. If you have safeguarding concerns about a young person in your care, contact the NSPCC Helpline on 0808 800 5000.
